Frocester Cricket Clubis one of the top cricket clubs in Gloucestershire, fielding 5 teams on a Saturday. The 1st X1 won the WEPL Premier 1 title in 2014 and 2015 and runners-up this season. The 2nd X1 play in tier 3 of WEPL, with all the opposition being 1st X1s. The 3rd X1 play in Division 2 of the Gloucestershire County League, whilst the 4th and 5th X1s play in the local Stroud League. With 2 delightful cricket grounds, Pounds Close and St Peters, playing or watching cricket at Frocester is always enjoyable.
The enviable youth structure consists of 3 x Under 11 teams, 2 x under 13 teams and 2 x under 15 teams, with a developing women and girls section and SEN squad, all supported by an excellent Chance to Shine project.
The social activities at the club are almost without parallel. Annual highlights include the Frocester Beer Festival, 36 years and still going strong, now solely run by the club. Whilst the Summer Ball and Comedy night are ever popular. Other noteable events include a Safari Supper and Advent Lunch, with league skittles ensuring the bar is open all year round.
The new pavilion is currently under construction and will be ready for the 2017 season.
To all FCC Members.
I have managed to arrange an open afternoon for
people to look at the new pavilion. It is between 1pm and 3pm on Friday 23rd
December after the builders have finished for their Christmas break. People
should park at the bottom of the ground and then walk up to be let in through
the Heras fencing as car parking will still be tight. The stairs are in and the
scaffolding will be down so the site will be relatively safe. Thanks to Dom
Thorley and Mark Davies of Fromebridge Construction for their help with this.
The Pavilion is coming on brilliantly so I hope many of you will take up this
Happy Christmas and New Year to everyone. Cheers
John Evans. Chairman.
